Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
1 can (14 ounces) tomato sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 teaspoons dried basil
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
12 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package instructions
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 1/2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
2 cups ricotta cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess grease.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
In a medium bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, 1 1/2 cups of mozzarella cheese, and 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese.
To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Place a layer of cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, followed by a layer of the cheese mixture. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.
Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese over the top of the lasagna.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown on top.
Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh basil, if desired.
Enjoy your homemade lasagna!
